LIBERAL PARTY OF CANADA COMES FROM BEHIND TO WIN A MAJORITY GOVERNMENT
Political pundits are shocked, New Democratic Party (NDP) supporters are heart-broken and the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) are grinding their teeth as the Liberal Party trounced both parties to ride its way to a majority today.
No word on the mental state of so-to-be former Prime Minister Stephen Harper who now has to cope with the World’s Best Mayor (as voted on by worldmayor.com) and Harper critic, Naheed Nenshii, as his Calgary mayor, Rachel Notley as his Alberta NDP premier; and former whipping post, Justin Trudeau, as his prime minister. To understand the exquisite nature of this comeuppance, please review the somewhat tasteless op-ed Mr. Harper wrote for the National Post after former-prime minister Pierre Trudeau’s (Justin Trudeau’s father) died in 2000. Click here to read the Harper op-ed written in 2000, when he was the Executive Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

FIRST POSITION PLAYER EVER TO PITCH IN A POST-SEASON BASEBALL GAME
The Toronto Blue Jays, baseball team of Canada, faces elimination after a shocking 14-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals in Game 4 of the ALCS (American League Championship Series). Cy Young award-winning knuckleball pitcher, and all around nice guy, R.J. Dickey, was yanked from the game in the top of the second inning with a score of 5 – 0, Kansas. After the Jays bullpen was shellacked in the next seven innings, Cliff Pennington, a switch-hitting, utility infielder picked-up by Toronto from the Arizona Diamondbacks in August, got the put-me-in-coach nod from manager, John Gibbons, and pitched in the ninth inning. Pennington, who had pitched in college, was the first position player ever to pitch in a post-season MLB game. Click here to see. Dickey’s outing was the shortest ever recorded in post-season baseball.

HURRICANE PATRICIA BECOMES THE STRONGEST PACIFIC HURRICANE ON RECORD SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT CDT
Hurricane Patricia evolved from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane within 36 hours, in stunning rapidity, according to meteorologists. It made landfall on the Mexican coastline on Friday evening and has affected 19 million people at the time of writing, although causalities appear to be blessedly minimal under the circumstances.
On the Saffir-Simpson measurement scale, hurricane categories are raised exponentially, so a Category 5 hurricane is 500 times stronger than a Category 1 hurricane. According to the U.S. National Hurricane Centre, catastrophic damage occurring with a Category 5 hurricane includes a high percentage of framed homes being destroyed, with total roof failure and wall collapse. Fallen trees and power poles will isolate residential areas. Power outages will last for weeks to possibly months. Most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or months. The storm is now making its way into Texas affecting many people, including the possible cancellation of the American F1 Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. Get the latest update by clicking here.
